Hrafn Bjorn Kindred

Who We Are...

We are Hrafn-Bjorn, an Ásatrú/Heathen Kindred from Pensacola, Florida... We are a group of Freemen and Women of the Gods and Goddesses of our Noble Ancestors.

What We Believe...

The word "Ásatrú" loosely means "faith in the gods" or roughly translates to “belief in the Æsir,” but it is best described as a modern version of the faith of the pre-Christian Nordic/Germanic peoples.

Long before Christianity came to northern Europe, the people there - our ancestors - had their own religions... one of these was Ásatrú. It was practiced in the lands that are today Scandinavia, England, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and other countries as well.  Ásatrú is the original, or native religious belief for the peoples who lived in these regions.  Ásatrú, as practiced by the Norse peoples, had so much in common with the religion of the other Germanic tribes, and with their cousins the Celts, that it may be thought of as one version of a general European religion. .

Ásatrú is focused on honoring the two families of Gods and Goddesses, the Æsir and the Vanir, but it also holds a belief in various other land spirits and a reverence of ancestors.  Our forebears believed in a number of Gods and Goddesses. Some of us think of them as real in the most literal sense, and others of us view them as symbols that help us understand the divine aspects of the universe.
